Right now, unjust evictions are destroying women’s lives in rural Uganda.
As powerful corporations dig for oil, plant large scale crops like sugarcane, and set up new factories, women and families are being violently forced from their homes.
In the face of this injustice, a movement of women have come together to resist these evictions. Your donation could support these brave women to reclaim their livelihoods and demand the life-changing compensation they are rightfully owed.
The donation you make today could help a woman like Esita Turyahebwa, pictured above. Before the sudden eviction from her home and land, Esita was a proud business owner. She now has been forced to leave her home and lives in an internal displacement camp, where her children often fall sick due to the lack of food and clean water.
Gifts from regular supporters make up one-quarter of Womankind’s total income. By choosing to give in this way, we can plan projects more efficiently with our partner organisations in Africa and Asia. Right now, monthly supporters are enabling us to deliver projects with partners that empower women with disabilities in Ethiopia and support girls experiencing violence in slum villages in Kenya. Those are just two examples of the many projects we build with partners every year. With more monthly supporters on board, we can work to improve the lives of more women around the world. It’s as simple as that.
